MQ Clue 3
Well, here is what I've accomplished so far for my Mystery Quilt. All of Clue 1 done, all of Clue 2 done, only 30 rectangles of Clue 3 done, but all the strips are cut out.
So far the only problems I had were with Clue 2, those diamonds started out not lining up correctly. I quit using steam in my iron and my troubles ended. So looking forward to getting Clue 3 done and finding out what Clue 4 will be like tomorrow morning.
I must say that Quiltville's Open Studio group has helped me a lot in accomplishing what I've done so far. Making a scrappy quilt is all new to me.

MQ Clue 2
Here it is, I figures out how to do Clue 2 with the Easy Angle Ruler. I think geometry was somehow involved but I got how to do it anyway. Diamonds and half square triangles, will need 600 pieces to make 100 4.5" squares, Now to finish Clue 1 so I can get on with it.

MQ Part 1
This is fun. I've got enough fabric cut out to complete 40 blocks even though I've had a slow start. I've only had to use the seam ripper once so far.
In case anyone is interested, I included in my picture what I'm using for a seam guide. It's Scotch Mounting Tape. That is the best thing I've found since I started using this sewing machine. My Singer had a metal guide but I couldn't get it to attach to this machine. Also, the 1/4" foot wasn't much help. This solved my problem and my seams are right on now.
Also, I'm a watercolorist and have a blog for it so my "about me" is geared to that blog and I couldn't figure out how to do a new one for this quilting blog without destroying the other. ??? So this is it guys. Happy quilting.

Mystery Quilt
Today Bonnie Hunter posted Clue #1 for the Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt. Above is my stash gathered to make the quilt and the yardage requirements. Bonnie picked the colors and told us which paint chips from Valspar paints to use as a color reference. It will be a scrap quilt which is out of my comfort zone so should be a challenge. If 280 half square triangles plus 200 2.5" squares aren't enough, putting them together into blocks for the first clue will be. Can't imagine what the next four or so clues will contain. I'm up for it though and excited to be involved.
Let the cutting begin!

Christmas Tree Block
I started this blog in hopes of recording my progress as a quilter. I began quilting in 1998, made a sample table runner and a lap quilt for my daughter, then quit quilting for ten years. Since renewing my interest in it I have accumulated a "stash", made a few small quilts and projects, four baby quilts and have about seven UFOs which I hope to finish one day I also paint in watercolor so my time has been divided.
I'm planning on starting Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt (she does scrappy quilts) on the day after Thanksgiving 11/28/14. Bonnie suggested we create a blog so we can post to her blog as the quilt progresses. She'll be giving us an on line clue each week. My niece, Christy, will also be doing this quilt. Should be fun.
I belong to the Palmetto Quilter's Guild and the above block is the one I made for one of our members who is going through Chemo.
